Hello everyone, new guy here with first post. First off a little info on the radio

Radio has never been moded in any way, still in pristine condition. The only thing I know for sure is it has been setting up in the box for several years.

While listening yesterday the recieve came up real high and very loud, the meter pegged at full scale. On any channel the smallest signal would put the needle in the red. Today I pulled the covers and started pressing on the board with a pencil eraser and found that if I pushed by L5 & L6 or just in front of VR! & VR2 I could cause the same problem. Forgot to mention that if I bumped the radio on the desk it would come back to normal recieve. I figured that I had a bad solder joint so I checked around and found one. If the radio is pointing with the front to me and component side up the bad solder joint was located among a bunch of resistors and caps all sealed up in wax just to the left and behind the two VR's. Now the recieve problem seems to have gone away at least for now. I can push on the board and not creat the recieve problem so maybe it's gone, time will tell. Can anyone tell me what is in the area that the bad solder joint was found? Also one last thing, I would like to find a list of the VR's on this radio and what they are for.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Okay I double checked myself and I was wrong about where the bad solder joint was. It was C59 which is on the emmiter leg of TR17. Sorry about that.

That is part of the I.F. strip, which is why it was having such an effect.

I am pretty sure that the alignment procedure is on the site.
