Need help, low power on low channels.

Post by foamman75 »

I've been trying to figure out the problem with an old President Zachary T.(early model) base I was given. It's weird, from channel 30 to 40 it will dead key 8 watts and swing 15 but from 30 down to 1 the power goes away. 1 - 18 will not even move the needle but I can hear my voice on my scanner but the audio is real weak. I've replaced the final and driver, that gave me more power on 30- 40 but same problem below 30. Anybody else ever incounter this problem? :?

Thanks

I think you will find that the coils are out of alignment, I am not at work so I can't tell you which ones to adjust, but it does sound like an alignment issue.

Thanks. I found that the coils that go to the buffer and driver were out of whack. Works mighty fine now. I love the reciever in this old unit. It's quiet and picks up really well. Again thanks for your help, Tim.
