obtaining a bb119 varicap diode for vc block for pll02a ssb

Post by hamguy2 »

hi guys, im chasing a varicap diode as many as possible for the vco blocks for pll02a ssb radios ,the vco block is a square silver metal box inside there is a few resisters caps etc but the main part is the bb119 varicap dioide thats the little tiny part with the ceramic falat head screw in it you turn to adjust the vco so itll lock properly with pllo2a chip ,the pll02a chip is modifiable from 24400mhz to 29500mhz in 5 khz steps by using thumbwheels which are a tiny set of numbers that go from 000 to 999 the channel selector is normally removed or by passed then the thumbwheel unit is wired into the radio using ribbon cable fitted to the pll02a pins im after as many varicaps that i can find to start arounfd 10- orso as we have 10 vco boards made up all they need is the bb119 varicap diode which the vco supplys 5volts to the pll to run it ,thankyou david nsw australia

Why not use BB809.
As they are easy find.
BB119 was made by Philips back in 1993 is no longer made.
I may have some old but new stock, I will have a look and let you know.
Rick.
