HG M84 mic wiring

Post by hotdogmud »

I have a Cobra HG M84 mic that came with a CB I bought from this guy. He said it worked but when I hooked it up to my Cobra 29, the TX button stayed on but would not transmit. It looks like he cut the end off and tried to solder a new end on it. Looks pretty crappy so I would like to fix it. I need to know what wires hook up on what number. It is a 4 pin plug and goes on a Cobra 29, which is the same CB that it came with. The mic has six wires: Bare, Red, White, Black, Yellow and a Blue. Right now the wires are soldered like this:

1=Bare
2=Red
3=White
4=Black

The yellow and blue are cut off and not used. I think they should be but I am not sure.

Any Suggestions on how to rewire?

Many Thanks!!!!

the wire that goes to pin number 2 should be wrapped in the bare(shield) inside the cord..

the bare(shield) goes to pin 1

from what im hearing..pin 3 and 4 may be mixed up

A good 90% of microphones on the market today use a standard colour (Color) code, which has been in use for about the past ten years.

Screen (Shield) = Common Ground.
White = Audio.
Red = TX.
Black = RX.

For a Cobra radio using a four-pin type plug.
1 = Screen (Shield).
2 = White.
3 = Red.
4 = Black.

A good 95% of Galaxy radios using four-pin type plug is the same wiring.
Rick.
